workshop

i-Nature #1 @ Tasik Raban 4-6 April 09 is confirmed!

To all participants, the workshop on 4-6th is confirmed.

Currently, I only have 4 confirmed participants, and I'll still honor the date. The main reason is due to my other commitment and the next workshop date will be only after Raya 09. It's not fair to registered participant to wait till then.

Thus, it will be a great fun with only few of us. We can run havoc over there. Less people meaning greater attention to individual. And ample opportunity for everyone to ask more and more questions -- not only on photography concepts & philosophy but also on post processing too.

To those still thinking... hurry up!

Registration supposed to be closed by Wednesday, 18th Mar. However, I extend it to 20th Mar.

I'm looking forward to a maximum of 8 pax only.

Did I mentioned that Ted Adnan will be there too?

i-Nature Photography Workshop

Introduction

i-Nature Photography Workshop in essence is a Nature Photography Workshop. It is not only about technicalities in photography but focus are given more to the philosophy behind it. In fact, technicalities are secondary.

There are 3 major objectives for this workshop: -

1. Higher awareness
Awareness refers to our motive in photography. It’s the why we shoot what we shoot, the internal feelings and emotions and the part of internal self that wanting to express and experience.

2. Appreciate nature
Appreciation in nature comes from the awareness that we a part of nature, that we are not separate but an immediate extension of bigger picture. When we are not separate, we will be thinking and have considerations of what we do and the consequences. Ideally, we will become the cause instead of because! (effect)

3. Learning to see that leads to taking better photos
Learning to see is seeing others or nature as a part and not apart. Each photo is reflections of self – part of self. We are expressing and experiencing parts of self by utilizing tools that we are comfortable with – camera.

It’s like a painter using any medium accessible to express his/her artistry. Learning to see is to break away from preconceived paradigm, becoming receptive and allowing direct and indirect new information to influence experiences towards the subject.

Planet Earth

Let's start with watching Planet Earth, a visualisation tool by The Secret.

As you are watching the clip, whaddya feel? What kind of emotions arise from the core?

Tasik Raban

[This article is the same as appeared in Advance Images & Photography few months back]

It was the 3rd day of Chinese New Year, my friends and I, were on the way to Pulau Banding at Tasik Temenggor. At first, there was no intention to hang out at Tasik Raban. However, as we were passing by Raja Nadzrin bridge, breathtaking view of Tasik Raban mysteriously made us scouted for location to shoot.

We stopped by Raban Lake Resort to glorious evening with majestic backdrop of Khatulistiwa Range. We were lucky. After about an hour, clouds were shifting and gave way to beautiful sun ray, lighted up part of the mountain and lake.

Zamrud's Basic Portraiture Workshop

Today I am honored to attend Master Zamrud's Basic Portraiture Workshop in his studio in Bangi. Me, being a "jakun" in portrait observe tentatively as Master Zamrud explained about shadow and lighting and how one making use of light, positioning and perspective.

You may read more about him at his blog, zamrudphotography, a picture worth a thousand words... at http://zamrudphotography.blogspot.com/

I salute him being able to accept me as his student and keep up to my nuisance throughout the whole day. I know I am not an easy student!
