By kar - Posted on 31 October 2008

Received email last nite from Digital Camera Magazine (UK) reminding subscribers about final 24 hours before closing of competition.

WTH, just try my luck!

These are the photos I submitted:

Category : Animal

[Curiousity]
The photo is captured at local zoo. As I was approaching the subject, she shy away. However, as I was trying to compose, she showed curiosity and somewhat feel as if she was trying to imitate me when I changed orientation from portrait to landscape.

[Harvest]
The photo is taken while I was visiting Bali. I was amazed that they are still harvesting paddy manually. I ask the cab driver to slow down and I shot this in a moving vehicle.

Nikon D50; Sigma 17-70 lens; ISO 800; Aperture priority; Matrix Metering; 1/4000s at f4.5

[Aged and Abandoned]
The place is an abandoned chalet. Each chalet is in front of the pond while surrounded by nature beauty. Seeing the beauty yet abandoned give a very sad feeling which reminded me of old age.

Nikon D80; Sigma 70-300 APO lens; ISO 100; Manual; Center-weighted; 1/20s at f16

Category : Dusk to Dawn

[Mollify]
The photo was taken right after sunset at Lumut, Malaysia. It represents how an active day is slowly transform into night by maintaining some shade of blue in the sky before darkness absorb all light from the sky.

Sony Alpha 700; CZ 16-80 lens; ISO 200; Manual; Multi-segment; 1/40s at f8

[Sky Curtain]
The photo was taken at a Bhuddist temple during a lantern festival in Jenjarum, Malaysia. It was past dawn and I saw symmetrical pattern and the lanterns were like curtain on the sky.

D80; Tokina 12-24 lens; ISO 200; Manual; Center-weighted; 1/20 at f4

[Kundalini]
The photo was taken in Commonwealth Forest Park, Malaysia. Observing the photo gives a serene feeling and absorbed into the nature.
